EAST HERKIMER, NY — April 3rd — At a building fire on East Main Street, the Mohawk Fire Department was assisted by the East Herkimer Volunteer Fire Department. With almost a dozen personnel, Engines E-134, E-136, and Rescue 505 arrived within minutes of being dispatched. Crews were tasked with supporting fire suppression and overhaul under the established incident command system upon arrival.
This kind of mutual aid response, which enables departments to share manpower and equipment during working fires, is typical in Herkimer County. The Dolgeville Fire Department maintained district protection by providing station coverage in East Herkimer as units worked at the scene. At the time of the reaction, no injuries had been reported.
