February 17, 2026 — The McKownville Fire Department announced a major milestone in the construction of its new firehouse, with all concrete footings poured and the foundation now complete. This phase officially establishes the building’s footprint and allows the project to move into vertical construction.
Despite abnormally low temperatures and higher-than-average snowfall this winter, work has continued on schedule. Department officials credited strong coordination, careful site management, and the dedication of construction partners for maintaining progress during challenging weather conditions.
Structural steel for the building has now been delivered, and installation is underway. As the steel framework rises, the community will begin to see the new firehouse take shape in the coming weeks.
The new facility is also being designed with sustainability and efficiency in mind. Plans include modern insulation, high-efficiency mechanical systems, and environmentally responsible design features aimed at reducing long-term operating costs while lowering the building’s environmental footprint.
The department thanked local residents for their continued support and noted that additional construction updates will be shared as work continues through the spring, summer, and fall of 2026.
