Six Geneva Members Train in Cold Water Rescue

Members of the City of Geneva Fire Department participated in the Ontario County Ice and Cold Water Rescue class, which was held in February at Cheshire Fire Department. Six Geneva firefighters participated in the two-day program, which comprised 16 hours of classroom instruction and hands-on training. Firefighters performed the proper rescue techniques and safety protocols for ice and cold water occurrences. Training evolutions emphasized victim approach, rescuer safety, and the usage of specialist equipment usually utilized during winter rescues.
