Just after 10:30 p.m. on June 23, the Center Moriches Fire Department responded to a car accident involving a fuel pump at a Mobil station on Wading River Road and the North Service Road of Sunrise Highway.

Firefighters were informed while on the road that the car had collided with a fuel pump that had taken fire. Crews swiftly put out the fire, secured the area, and made sure there were no more dangers or fuel leaks.

EMS assessed the driver and found no injuries. Within 30 minutes, firefighters were back on duty after the area was turned over to the Suffolk County Police and the Brookhaven Town Fire Marshal for investigation.
