When you become a member of 1stResponderNews.com, you will immediately become a correspondent.
After you log on you will see a MEMBER PANEL on the left side of the screen. Within that panel is the selection for ARTICLE SUBMISSION.
Before making the actual submission, you should compose your story (news, feature or column) in a word processor. Think about what you want to say and remember the basics - Who, What, When, Where and Why. And as my third grade teacher was fond of saying "... sometimes How."
Write your story, review it, and then walk away for about twenty minutes. Do something else and then come back and look at your story. You will be surprised at how many little errors you'll find.
Once the story is the way you want it, use your spelling and grammar checker on the story. This will not only put the final polish on your story, you will also make the editor (me), very happy. When the checker is finished, review the story one more time for accuracy.
Now it's time to post the story. Click on ARTICLE SUBMISSION and cut and paste your story into the form. Headlines should be kept short and sweet. Capitalize only proper names.
If you are submitting photos with your story (and I sincerely hope you are) pick your best four photos and then pick the best one to be entered first.
The rest of the process is pretty much self explanatory. However, if you should run into a problem that you can't solve, post a message in the forums or send an email to ForumHelp@1stResponderNews.com
