Members of the Tobyhanna Township Volunteer Fire Company were called to a tractor-trailer collision with alleged entrapment on Interstate 80 eastbound in Tunkhannock Township at around 10:45 p.m. on December 3. Tunkhannock Township Volunteer Fire Company Station 42 and Pocono Mountain Regional Emergency Medical Services Station 11 also responded.
While Rescue Engine 41-2 responded from the Pocono Pines station, Rescue Engine 41-3 responded from the Blakeslee station. Workers managed traffic through the site, secured the tractor-trailer, and gained access to the driver. Before clearing, Station 41 was in operation for a little more than an hour. There was also a response from the Pennsylvania State Police.
Station 41 urged community members who were interested in service to think about joining the department after the event. Opportunities are available across many membership categories, training is offered, and no prior experience is necessary. To find out more, interested parties were asked to come to the Pocono Pines firehouse on Tuesday nights at 7 p.m.
