December 19, 2025, evening — Members of the Dorothy Volunteer Fire Company EMS duty crew responded to an unusual call after a dog was accidentally locked inside a vehicle with the keys trapped inside. The incident occurred during the overnight hours, prompting a response to safely access the vehicle and check on the animal’s condition.

Firefighters were able to quickly free the dog without injury, ensuring it was safely reunited with its owner. The department noted that calls can vary widely from day to day, and this incident served as a reminder of the unexpected situations emergency responders may face while on duty.
