Hazleton City Firefighters were dispatched at 4:58 p.m. on Wednesday to a reported residential structure fire at 672 Alter Street in the City of Hazleton. Initial reports indicated an oven fire with heavy smoke conditions visible from outside the residence. Upon arrival, crews from Group 2 found smoke throughout the home and immediately initiated an interior attack to locate and extinguish the source of the fire.

Firefighters quickly accessed the kitchen area, where the fire was confirmed to have originated inside the oven. Crews were able to extinguish the fire before it extended further into the structure, preventing more significant damage. Ventilation and overhaul operations were conducted to remove smoke and ensure no hidden fire remained within the residence.

Units responding to the incident included Engine 2, Rescue 3, Engine 4, Ladder 1, Tower 1, and Command units C-2 and C-3. No injuries were reported, and the incident was brought under control in a timely manner due to the rapid actions of responding firefighters.

The Hazleton Fire Department reminds residents to remain vigilant while cooking, ensure appliances are properly maintained, and never leave cooking food unattended, as kitchen fires remain one of the leading causes of residential fire incidents.
