Rushing increases the chance of collisions and injuries, EMS officials advised locals to slow down and give themselves more time when traveling in icy conditions. Instead of waiting for a large accumulation of snow, which can seriously strain the cardiovascular system, householders are encouraged to shovel little quantities more frequently.

Responders advised individuals to be mindful of their surroundings when skiing or snowboarding in order to prevent collisions with other persons or items that could cause catastrophic injuries.
