Third-Alarm Fire Destroys Hazle Township Home, Crews Battle Wind-Driven Flames in Early Morning Response
Hazle Township Fire & Rescue Company 141 responded to a major residential fire in the early morning hours of December 2, 2025, resulting in a third-alarm response and an extended firefighting operation. At approximately 1:15 a.m., Hazle Township companies were dispatched to 174 Forest Hill Acres following reports of a house fire. Initial information indicated an exterior deck fire on the Charlie side of the structure that was rapidly extending into the residence. Upon arrival, Engine 2 confirmed a working fire in a two-story single-family dwelling, with fire already involving multiple divisions of the structure. Crews initiated an aggressive interior attack in an effort to control the fire; however, rapidly deteriorating conditions, including wind-driven fire behavior and concerns over the structural integrity of the roof, prompted command to transition operations to a defensive strategy. Truck 5 was placed into service, and multiple master streams were deployed, operating for several hours to bring the fire under control. Due to the rural location and limited water supply, the incident escalated to a third alarm to provide additional manpower and tanker support for water movement. Chief 3, Zoshak, served as incident commander throughout the operation. No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
