Clementon, New Jersey — December 15 — On December 15, during a blizzard, firefighters from Clementon Fire Rescue Station 61 responded to an increase in weather-related calls. Crews dealt with six occurrences related to worsening traffic and weather conditions during the course of three and a half hours.
Due to snow buildup adding weight to trees and decreasing roadway traction, calls included reports of fell tree branches, motor vehicle accidents, and downed wires. As winter weather came into southern New Jersey, similar activity was observed throughout the region, raising the need for emergency services. While working in ice and snowy circumstances, crews tried to reduce risks, help drivers, and secure dangerous situations. Fire officials emphasized ongoing caution during winter weather events by reminding locals to avoid downed wires and to slow down on snow-covered roads.
