Nov. 23, 2025 —Goodwill Hose Company No. 2, An important piece of Plymouth Borough’s firefighting history has returned home as Goodwill Hose Co. No. 2 welcomed back its retired 1968 American LaFrance Pioneer engine. The apparatus has been purchased by Capt. John Rowlands Jr., who will serve as its private owner and caretaker, ensuring the historic engine remains preserved for future generations.
The engine proudly protected Plymouth Borough from 1968 until 1995, when it was sold to the Pine Creek Fire Department in Lycoming County, where it remained in service until 2008. Following its retirement, the engine passed through the hands of several fire department members dedicated to maintaining its condition and legacy. Although no longer in active service, the engine will now serve as a showpiece, appearing in parades and community events throughout the region.
Members of Goodwill Hose Co. No. 2 expressed their appreciation to Capt. Rowlands for bringing the engine back to Plymouth, noting its deep historical significance to both the fire company and the borough.
