227 Rescue was called to Incident 1148 on December 16 at around 7:30 a.m. due to a two-vehicle collision with unidentified injuries at the 81.5-mile marker of I-376 westbound. AC911 said that several callers were reporting the incident involving a passenger bus while units were on their way. Additional units were included because the location encompasses Churchill, Penn Hills, and Wilkins Township.
Rescue 227 and Penn Hills EMS arrived to find an SUV that had struck a bus. Every person in both cars denied being hurt. Units from Stations 302 and 303 assisted with managing a large debris field. The incident was held to the units on scene. Shortly after, at the 82-mile mark of I-376 eastbound, AC911 alerted 227 Rescue to a second car accident. When crews came, they secured the area and spoke with the patients. The vehicle was taken off the road, units were put back into service, and care was passed to EMS. 227CHF held command.
