Just before 11:30 p.m. on December 1, units from Penn Hills No. 7 Volunteer Fire Company and other stations were sent to Incident 1097 for a reported residential structure fire in the 400 block of Hochberg Road. AC911 reported that callers were reporting a kitchen fire while personnel were on the scene.

When Truck 227 and Engine 222 arrived, the house was emitting smoke. The homeowner attested to the fact that everyone had left before they arrived. While workers advanced a hoseline into the building and encountered hoarding circumstances during interior operations, Engine 222 supplied a water supply to Truck 227. Engine 223 secured utilities and examined the nearby home for fire spread, while Engine 285 was tasked with ventilation and extension assessments. The fire was brought under control. The homeowner was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Command was held by 225CHF. The Penn Hills Fire Marshal is investigating the cause.
