November 24, 2025 —Members of Freeland Fire Department 136 remained busy both on and off the response front during the past week, balancing training, community traditions, and emergency calls. Firefighters Stan Sopata, Joey Karosa, and Brandon Poulin traveled to Laceyville in Wyoming County to attend a Pennsylvania State Fire Academy Local Level Pumps 1 class, strengthening their skills in engine operations and water supply. The department extended its thanks to Goodwill Fire Company for hosting the class and providing hospitality throughout the weekend.

Back home on the Northside, department members began installing the annual Christmas decorations, a long-standing holiday tradition in the community. Additional details regarding the remainder of the decoration schedule will be announced once finalized.

In addition to training and seasonal preparations, crews also responded to a carbon monoxide alarm in the 200 block of Adams Street, underscoring the department’s continued commitment to public safety while remaining fully operational.
