Freeland Firefighters Assist with Multi-Agency Responses in Luzerne and Carbon Counties

November 19, 2025 – Freeland Fire Department 136: units were dispatched during the early morning hours to assist Hazle Township Fire and Rescue with a working salvage yard fire in the Greenridge section of Hazle Township. A Freeland truck and engine responded, with the truck establishing a ladder pipe operation on the “B” side of the incident to provide exposure protection as needed, while the engine remained staged. Additional resources on scene included Hazle Township units, Truck and Engine 141, and both Engine 183 companies. Hazle Township Chief Scott Kostician held incident command.
Later that same day, Freeland’s truck was dispatched to Packer Township in Carbon County for a reported structure fire. Upon arrival, the unit was held in staging by Weatherly Command and subsequently returned to service after being released, completing a safe return to the Northside. No injuries were reported in either response.
