Mount Laurel, New Jersey — November 25 — Rain did not stop the Mount Laurel Fire Department's unique school-day arrival.

Elias Lester, a kindergartener at Fleetwood Elementary, won a ride to school on a fire apparatus through a recent fundraiser. Elias was taken to school by firefighters, where staff and students observed the arrival and engaged with the responders. The tour highlighted the relationship between the department and nearby schools while providing a quick look at fire department equipment.

Outside of emergency responses, community activities and fundraisers offer chances for constructive participation. These times are frequently used by fire departments to assist schools, acknowledge student involvement, and raise awareness of public safety.
