Evesham Township, New Jersey — December 16 — Evesham Fire-Rescue personnel responded to a smoke issue that was claimed to be caused by a malfunctioning heater. Before leaving the scene, firefighters secured the appliance, looked into the source, and made sure there was no fire extension.

Fire officials advised locals to respond right away if a heater emits smoke or a burning smell after the response. One piece of advice was to turn off the unit's electricity and dial 911 for help. Additionally, residents were urged by crews to routinely monitor their smoke detectors. Homes with fuel-fired appliances or adjacent garages should have at least one functional carbon monoxide detector in accordance with generally recognized fire safety regulations. In order to lower hazards and promote safe winter heating operations, routine inspections and early reporting are important.
