A chimney fire on Drift Road was extinguished by Westport firefighters. On December 6, there were no reports of any damage to the house, and the fire was restricted to the flue. Tanker 1, Chief 1, Engine 3, Engine 4, and both on-call and off-duty firefighters arrived at the scene. Before the heating season, residents are reminded by the Westport Fire Department to get their stoves and chimneys examined and cleaned by a certified chimney sweep once a year.
