Liberty Firefighters Contain Apartment Blaze on Crestview Drive

December 7, 2025 — At 1:48 p.m. today, the Liberty Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire at the Liberty Manor Apartments on Crestview Drive in the Village of Liberty.
Upon arrival of unit 17-4, firefighters found heavy fire showing from the rear porch area of an apartment. Mutual aid was requested from the Monticello, White Sulphur Springs, Livingston Manor, and Loch Sheldrake fire departments to provide interior manpower. Additional coverage was provided with Grahamsville standing by in Liberty, Youngsville covering White Sulphur Springs, and Rock Hill covering Monticello.
Fire crews were able to contain the blaze, limiting damage to two apartments. A total of 12 residents were displaced as a result of the fire. The cause remains under investigation by the Sullivan County Bureau of Fire.
Assisting agencies included the Village of Liberty Police Department, New York State Police, and Empress EMS. Fire units operated on scene for approximately two and a half hours before clearing.
