December 8, 2025 —Members of the Cutchogue Fire Department helped usher in the holiday season on Saturday evening by participating in two beloved North Fork traditions: the Cutchogue Village Green Tree Lighting and the annual Greenport Christmas Parade of Lights.

The evening began in Cutchogue, where firefighters escorted Santa Claus aboard historic Engine 8-5-2 to the Village Green for the annual tree lighting, sponsored by the Cutchogue–New Suffolk Historical Council. Families and carolers gathered as Santa arrived to officially kick off the season.

Later, CFD joined neighboring departments in the Greenport Christmas Parade of Lights, hosted by the Phenix Hook and Ladder Company and Greenport Village. Decorated fire apparatus, including CFD Ladder 8-5-3 and Fire Police 8-5-15, rolled through streets lined with cheering children and families before Santa’s arrival at Mitchell Park.

CFD will continue participating in holiday events throughout the season, helping spread cheer while supporting community traditions across the North Fork.
