November 23, 2025 | The Cutchogue Fire Department welcomed members of the Southold Mothers Club on Saturday, Nov. 22, for an interactive morning focused on fire safety, community service, and education. About 20 children and their parents visited the firehouse, where they were greeted by First Assistant Chief Dinizio and several CFD firefighters and EMTs.
During the visit, families toured fire trucks and ambulances, learned how firefighters use turnout gear and specialized tools, and were introduced to lifesaving equipment including SCBA air packs and thermal imaging cameras. The goal of the program was to help children better recognize firefighters in emergency situations and reduce fear during real incidents.
A highlight of the morning was a surprise appearance by Sparky the Fire Dog, who spent time with the children and reinforced key fire prevention messages. Each child received a souvenir coloring book and fire safety materials to take home, and the visit concluded with pizza and refreshments shared with CFD members.
The department thanked the Southold Mothers Club for visiting and emphasized its continued commitment to prevention through education and community outreach.
