Jewett City, Connecticut — 9th December — In a joint training exercise, members of the Griswold Volunteer Fire Department and the Jewett City Fire Department practiced hose line deployment and rescue in a smoke-filled environment.

While looking for two fictitious victims, crews moved hose lines through confined places with no visibility. Firefighters worked on coordinating movement in tight spaces, avoiding obstacles, and keeping hose control. Firefighter rescue scenarios, where teams break walls or help trapped crews, were also included in the progression. Ladder placement around the structure to facilitate quick egress is taught to both new and non-interior qualified members. Low-visibility training is frequently utilized to improve coordination, safety, and communication. According to department authorities, all volunteers gained significant experience during the simulation.
