Bridgehampton Fire Department Honors Six Decades of Service as Lawrance Osborn Is Laid to Rest

On 1st Dec 2025, Bridgehampton Fire Department members, family, and neighboring departments gathered this weekend to honor the life and service of Lawrance L. Osborn, a devoted firefighter who served his community for nearly 60 years. Mr. Osborn, who passed away at age 91, was remembered not only for his longevity with the department but for the character, dedication, and quiet pride he brought to every role he undertook.

The services reflected a deep respect for his legacy. Fire apparatus from surrounding departments were positioned in solemn tribute, raising a large American flag over the roadway as Mr. Osborn was escorted to his final resting place in Wainscott. The moment served as a powerful reminder of the brotherhood of the fire service and the lasting bonds formed through decades of shared service.

Members of the East Hampton and Sag Harbor Fire Departments joined Bridgehampton firefighters and the Osborn family, standing together in uniform to pay their respects. For many, the ceremony symbolized not an end, but the continuation of a legacy that lives on through family members and generations of firefighters inspired by Mr. Osborn’s example.

Bridgehampton Fire Department expressed heartfelt gratitude to all who participated, noting that Lawrance Osborn’s commitment, humor, and presence will long be remembered within the department and the wider community he faithfully served.
