Over the past several days, the Bohemia Fire Department has responded to multiple carbon monoxide (CO) alarms reporting elevated levels in residential and commercial properties. These incidents highlight the serious dangers of carbon monoxide, an odorless, colorless gas that can quickly become life-threatening without warning.

Firefighters investigated each alarm, ensuring the safety of occupants and identifying hazardous conditions before allowing re-entry. The department is reminding residents and business owners to install carbon monoxide detectors, regularly check their expiration dates, and replace batteries as needed.

The Bohemia Fire Department is staffed entirely by dedicated volunteers and continues to respond around the clock to protect the community. Those interested in volunteering are encouraged to reach out to learn more.
