The Bohemia Fire Department was busy on the night of Nov. 26, responding to multiple incidents across Suffolk County. Engine 1 was dispatched as the Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) to a structure fire in the West Sayville Fire District, where crews stood by while interior teams quickly extinguished a contents fire in a laundry room. After returning to quarters, Bohemia firefighters were immediately called out again, this time to a motor vehicle accident with reported entrapment in Oakdale. Members operated under challenging nighttime conditions, assisting with scene safety and emergency operations. The department praised the coordinated efforts of all agencies involved and continues to encourage community members to consider volunteering.
