December 4, 2025 | Bay Shore Fire Department units responded earlier today to a reported vehicle fire in the rear parking lot of South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore. Upon dispatch, Bay Shore FD Training Officer 1 arrived on scene and confirmed an actively involved vehicle fire. Chief of Department 3-1-30 and Second Assistant Chief 3-1-32 responded immediately and coordinated incoming units. Engine 3-1-3 arrived and stretched a handline from the front bumper, quickly beginning suppression efforts. Despite rapid intervention, the fire extended to adjacent vehicles, resulting in fire damage to three vehicles in total. Additional support was provided by Engines 3-1-1 and 3-1-5, along with Chiefs 30 and 31. Suffolk County Police Department Third Precinct also assisted on scene. One firefighter sustained a minor injury during operations and was treated and released. The incident was brought under control without further escalation, and an investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
