Thompson, Connecticut — December 11 — With temps hovering around 20 degrees, Thompson fire units were called to a suspected vehicle fire near 51 Elmwood Road in the town's Quaddick neighborhood. When workers arrived, they discovered a completely destroyed Class A RV and a burning boat on the Eversource high-tension powerline access road.
Due to the fire load and restricted access to hydrants, firefighters started suppression operations and asked for more water. Tanker 179 from the East Putnam Fire Department arrived to help with the water supply. Crews operated beneath chilly circumstances while maintaining safety near utility infrastructure. No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported during the fire's containment. The Thompson Fire Marshal arrived to the scene and is investigating the cause in collaboration with the Connecticut State Police.
