December 7, 2025 — The Bogota Fire Department announced with deep regret the passing of honorary fire chief and longtime department photographer Ed Rode, whose decades of service helped preserve the history of local emergency services.

Rode was a vital part of the Bogota Fire Department, First Aid Squad, and Rescue Squad for more than 50 years, documenting countless incidents and milestones as a dedicated photographer. His work captured generations of firefighters and emergency responders in action.

A U.S. Marine veteran, Rode devoted much of his life to serving both his country and his community. In recognition of his unwavering commitment, he was named an honorary fire chief in 2020.

Department members described Rode as a dear friend who was deeply respected and widely admired. He will be greatly missed, but his legacy and photographs will remain an enduring part of Bogota’s emergency services history.
