East Putnam, Connecticut — December 10 — As part of continued cooperative training initiatives, the East Putnam Fire Department, located at 263 Providence Turnpike, trained the entire town in extrication with the Putnam Fire Department and Putnam EMS. Patients with a variety of injuries participated in an exercise that mimicked a two-car collision. While EMS staff concentrated on patient treatment and triage, crews performed vehicle stabilization, tool operations, patient access, and coordinated extrication. Members were able to practice scene coordination and communication in a controlled setting by working in close proximity to other teams. This kind of joint training is frequently utilized throughout Connecticut to enhance patient outcomes, responder safety, and interagency collaboration during traffic crises.
