East Putnam, Conn. — November 18 — Interstate 395 North was closed at Exit 43 on November 18 as the East Putnam Fire Department operated at a vehicle accident with fire involving a tractor trailer brake fire. Crews arrived to find fire conditions and a diesel fuel spill affecting the travel lanes. Firefighters extinguished the fire, secured the vehicles, and established spill control while protecting drainage areas.

Because of the fuel release, the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection was requested to assist with environmental mitigation. The Connecticut State Police shut down the highway and managed traffic control to allow safe operations. Dayville Fire Company and the Attawaugan Fire Department provided mutual aid. No injuries were reported.
