Fire crews were dispatched to what was reported to be a fully-involved barn fire just before 11 p.m. on Saturday, November 19, in the area of 1747 Washington Ave Ext.

“Crews arrived on scene and found a 50x40 detached garage with heavy fire throughout and spreading to the adjacent home,” said Assistant Chief Dan Sheehan of the Defreestville Fire Department. “Defreestville firefighters were able to get quick water on the fire and stop the spread to the home.”

Agencies on the scene included Defreestville, Wynantskill, East Greenbush, Clinton Heights, Best Luther, Rensselaer fire departments.

Also assisting on scene were North Greenbush Ambulance, and North Greenbush Police.

Sheehan says the bulk of the fire was knocked down in 30 minutes.

Crews were on the scene conducting overhaul and assisting fire investigations for approximately two hours.

There were no injuries reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
