Wauregan, CT — November 19 — An evening training exercise involving vehicle extrication in low light was conducted by members of the Atwood Hose Fire Company. Working beneath two light towers and two portable tripod lights, crews replicated a car accident involving a sedan. In order to strengthen stabilisation, tool placement, and coordinated movements in low visibility, firefighters removed the roof and all four entrances. In order to safeguard responders and patients, training officers stressed that nighttime crashes are frequent and call for controlled lighting and communication.

In order to facilitate prolonged outdoor operations, members had a dinner cooked by Chef Bob prior to the drill. Jewett City Savings Bank executives stopped by the station during the training to deliver a grant cheque that will be utilised to buy new PPE for department employees.
