CHAPLIN, CT - At 3:12 P.M. on Friday, December 15, 2023, the Chaplin and North Windham Fire Departments were dispatched to the area of 175 North Bedlam Road for a smoke investigation. The caller then walked up the driveway and noticed a mobile home on fire, so Quinebaug Valley upgraded it to a first-alarm. Filling out the assignment added Willimantic FAST & Ambulance 701 with Mansfield Tanker 307. Car 109 arrived at 3:19 P.M. with smoke pushing from the eaves and requested four tankers, which brought in Hampton, Eastford, Mortlake and Ashford. North Windham Engine 102 arrived at 3:24 P.M., laying a supply line up the driveway. The crew then stretched a one-and-three-quarter-inch hose line to the front and rear of the structure. Crews darkened down a large volume of fire from the exterior and then advanced in. The Chaplin Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
