Ogdensburg, NJ — November 23 — A multi-agency training session on the dangers of lithium-ion batteries was held by the Ogdensburg Fire Department. Top Floor Tactics offered the training, which gave first responders an overview of battery architecture, fire behavior, and operating considerations. The morning session included firefighters from the Andover Township Volunteer Fire Department, Sparta Township Fire Department, and Hardyston Township Volunteer Fire Department. Instructors covered response factors, including as scene safety, size-up, and extinguishment challenges, and talked about recent events involving lithium-ion batteries. The increasing prevalence of these batteries in consumer electronics, automobiles, and homes was another topic covered in the course. Joint training opportunities, according to department officials, enhance agency collaboration and guarantee that staff are ready to operate safely as new threats continue to emerge.
