On 2nd november 2025 Witmer Fire Protective Association announced during the month of October, the Witmer Fire Protective Association responded to a total of 36 emergency calls, bringing the year-to-date total to 370 calls. Incidents ranged from building and vehicle fires to motor vehicle accidents, fire alarm activations, and investigations. Alongside emergency responses, members conducted two company trainings, held multiple meetings, and staffed the station on several nights and days to help ensure timely responses for the community. In a continued effort to adapt to declining volunteer numbers nationwide, Engine 62 has officially been redesignated as Squad 62—remaining an engine company while also being equipped for light rescue and truck company functions. This enhancement will allow Witmer personnel to assist with specialty tasks while continuing to rely on mutual aid partners for larger operations. Additional in-house training focused on vehicle rescue, truck company work, and special services is planned to begin in early 2026. Members and supporters are encouraged to stay tuned as the department prepares to share an exciting announcement in the coming month.
