The Robert Fulton Fire Company responded to a reported gas leak Wednesday evening, Nov. 19, 2025, after residents detected the odor of propane inside a home in the 1100 block of Pilgrims Pathway.
Engine 89-3, Engine 89-1, Squad 89, and Tanker 89 were dispatched at 6:24 p.m. Upon arrival, crews used gas meters to check for lower explosive limit (LEL) readings inside the dwelling. During an exterior inspection of two above-ground 500-gallon propane tanks, firefighters identified a faint hissing sound.
Further investigation revealed a small leak in an underground connection that had migrated through an old conduit line and vented into the home’s basement. As a precaution, the propane tanks were immediately shut off.
The homeowner’s gas utility company was notified and responded to the scene to begin repairs on the damaged line. No injuries were reported, and the situation was safely mitigated.
A total of 31 Robert Fulton Fire Company volunteers signed in for the call, with all units clearing the scene by 7:29 p.m. The incident highlighted the importance of quickly reporting gas odors and the coordinated response between volunteer firefighters and utility crews.
