Cranford, N.J. — December 7 — Due to a reported working structure fire, Westfield Engine 5 was sent into Cranford for mutual aid. The engine arrived to support Cranford Fire Department units that were already on the site. After arriving, Engine 5 was tasked with supporting continuing fire suppression efforts under the supervision of incident command. When it comes to fighting fires, supplying water, and moving hose lines as needed, engine companies are essential. While preserving fire safety in nearby communities, mutual help actions guarantee sufficient personnel and resources. As part of a coordinated response to the incident, Westfield firefighters worked with regional colleagues. During active fire operations, the assignment showed how departments continued to work together.
