DELAWARE, N.J. — December 1 — Following reports of potential entrapment, Knowlton Township Fire and Rescue Company #1 responded to a multi-vehicle collision on I-80 East close to the 0.9-mile marker. Two cars and two tractor-trailers were involved when Rescue Engine 41-65, Rescue 41-73, Car 41, KTFR 41-52, and Atlantic EMS 15-51 arrived. One motorist was taken to a nearby hospital, and another automobile had significant front-end damage after colliding with a tractor-trailer.
To help clear the road, workers removed a damaged portion of a caravan using a rescue saw. Although there were delays for about an hour while cars were removed, eastbound traffic was redirected onto a service road. The event demonstrated the value of coordinated operations on busy routes, according to officials.
