WARREN, N.J. — November 27 — Following a car rollover on I-78, the Mt. Bethel Fire Company helped a local family by making sure their pets were taken care of while the humans were transported to the hospital. Riley, the family's dog, was taken by firefighters to the station, where she remained securely until family members showed there. Bear, the family's cat, was taken to Red Bank Animal Hospital in Hillsborough by Captain Fitch and Assistant Chief Reedman for assessment.
The episode, according to officials, illustrates the larger role emergency services play when reacting to significant incidents. Departments frequently help families with pets, temporary housing, and community assistance in addition to fighting fires and performing rescue operations. These initiatives are crucial to assisting locals in unforeseen circumstances, the Mt. Bethel Fire Company stressed.
