On November 21, 2025, at approximately 3:17 PM, the Columbia County Emergency Communication Center received multiple calls for a working structure fire in the Tri-Village Fire District at 3869 Route 66. Additionally, the Tri Village Task Force which consist of the Chatham Fire Department, East Chatham Fire Department, Niverville Fire Department, North Chatham Fire Department, and the Stuyvesant Fire Department with their rapid intervention team to the scene. The column of smoke from the house fire was visible from interstate 90 at Everett Road in the city of Albany in the clear afternoon sky.
The first arriving chief on scene notified the dispatcher that he had heavy fire in the rear of the structure pushing up the back of the structure into the home. Command immediately began to request additional manpower and Resources to the scene. Firefighters deployed an inch and three-quarter hand line to the front of the structure and a 2 1/2-inch hand line to the rear of the structure. Firefighters made an aggressive interior attack knocking down a significant portion of the fire on the inside of the first floor of the structure. Firefighters utilized a 2 1/2-inch hand line in the rear of the structure and began to knock down the heavy fire condition traveling up the backside of the house. As firefighters continued to work command conducted a full walk around of the structure and had heavy fire pushing from the delta side of the building along with heavy smoke pushing from the roof and windows on the second floor.
Multiple tankers began to arrive on scene and established a water supply at the end of the driveway. Command requested a second alarm to be transmitted bringing additional resources to the scene from Valatie Fire Department, Canaan Fire Department, Lebanon Valley Fire Department, Spencertown Fire Department, and Red Rock Fire Department to the scene. Firefighters continue to work on scene conducting defensive operations from the rear of the structure as they had heavy fire traveling throughout the attic area. Command was able to confirm everybody was accounted for from the structure and nobody was inside of the building. Firefighters tossed a ladder to the Front side of the structure and made their way to the roof where they made entry into the second floor with an inch and three-quarter hand line and made an aggressive push to knock down some of the heavy fire traveling the attic area.
Firefighters on the first floor continued to knock down the heavy fire condition and began to pull ceilings and parts of the wall apart on the first floor which revealed heavy fire. Firefighters continue to work to knock down the remaining Fire on the first floor. Due to the extensive operations on scene command requested additional manpower from Ghent Fire Department, Mellenville Fire Department and Kinderhook Fire Department to the scene. Firefighters on scene made their way to the roof of the structure and began to vent the building vertically to gain access to the heavy fire condition in the attic. As firefighters were doing so firefighters in the rear of the structure continued to utilize master streams and knock down a large portion of the heavy fire condition. Firefighters in the rear of the building utilized caution as a large portion of the deck had burned through. Firefighters continued to hit hot spots and pull apart the back of the building.
Firefighters continue to work until late in the evening hours. Due to the heavy fire condition and the extension into the other parts of the house it took a few hours to bring the incident completely under control. Firefighters cleared the scene later in the evening hours. No injuries were reported all of the residents and animals were able to make it out safely. The cause of the fire remains under investigation but does not appear to be suspicious in nature.
