Aroostook County, ME — November 15 — CERT members recently attended a refresher course on flood readiness, according to Aroostook County Emergency Management. Deputy Director Derrick Ouellette conducted the discussion, which concentrated on well-known hazards in northern Maine, such as spring runoff and abrupt weather shifts. Important safety procedures, reaction duties, and strategies for assisting local agencies during high-water incidents were all covered in the training. Because floods can occur quickly in rural regions, officials pointed out that early preparation is crucial. Additionally, the course reaffirmed cooperation and communication techniques, which are still crucial for well-coordinated activities. According to Aroostook County Emergency Management, regular refresher training enables a more robust community response when flooding concerns emerge and keeps volunteers prepared for seasonal challenges.
