Windchill and Sub-Zero Temperatures Expected — Take Precautions

Litchfield Fire Rescue is warning locals to be cautious in extremely cold weather as the season's lowest temperatures approach. It is predicted that daytime temperatures will remain below freezing, with windchills making it feel significantly colder and evening lows falling below zero. Frostbite and hypothermia are more common in cold weather, particularly for those who spend time outside.
Wearing water-resistant boots, mittens or gloves, a cap, and covering exposed skin are all advised for residents. Move someone inside if they exhibit symptoms of hypothermia or frostbite, take off any damp clothing, and gradually warm them while getting medical attention if necessary. The department asks everyone to check on neighbors, stay aware of the weather, and take simple steps to stay warm and safe.
