Deerfield, NH — November 18 — To improve operational preparedness for rural water delivery, Deerfield Fire/Rescue, located at 6 Church Street, held a pumping drill. In order to keep staff ready in the event that hydrants are unavailable, the training concentrated on draughting, relay pumping, and tanker shuttling. Firefighters practiced coordinating tanker fill and dump locations, creating a draft from a static water source, and transporting water over great distances via relay operations.
Charles, a previous call member who is now a member of the day crew, gained valuable experience operating a pump during the session. After proving that he was comfortable with pump controls and water delivery operations, he finished his qualification.
