Plainville firefighters completed live-fire training in Smithfield, Rhode Island last week as part of continued readiness for structure fire response. Crews worked in realistic conditions, practicing hose line advancement, fire attack, ventilation, and interior search techniques. The controlled environment allowed firefighters to apply skills while reinforcing safety procedures and communication under heat and smoke.
Department officials said regular hands-on training is essential as call types and risks evolve throughout the year. Live-fire exercises also strengthen teamwork and ensure that crews can operate effectively during multi-agency responses. Plainville Fire Department reported that the session supported professional development and maintained a high level of preparedness for protecting residents and mutual-aid partners.
