Hudson, NH — November 6 — Members of the Hudson, New Hampshire Fire Department finished their IAFF Fire-Ground Survival Course with a zero-visibility maze that mimics actual fireground dangers. Firefighters were forced to apply the air management, entanglement survival, and emergency communication skills they had learnt over the course of the three-day curriculum. The instructors pointed out that these teachings are designed to prevent such incidents and are based on line-of-duty death investigations.
The course, according to participants, was among the hardest they had ever completed, but it reinforced skills that might one day save a fireman in peril. The training was led by master instructors from several departments in the United States and Canada. Next month, the remaining Hudson Fire employees are expected to finish the same course, guaranteeing that every employee receives the same level of safety training.
