Ahead of a private SantaCon-related event on Saturday, the Fairfield Fire Department issued a public safety alert, stating that the safety of locals, neighbors, and guests continues to be its first priority. According to the agency, last year's events put a heavy burden on emergency services, resulting in the handling of a commercial structure fire and the transportation of over 25 persons to hospitals.
There won't be a public SantaCon event in Fairfield this year, officials said. A private, ticketed event that Fairfield University hosts for its students and registered visitors is the sole permitted activity. According to the agency, internet statements endorsing a townwide celebration are false.
The Town's Emergency Management Team, Fairfield Police, Fairfield University Public Safety, and local mutual-aid partners will all work closely with Fairfield Fire to assure preparedness. In downtown and waterfront locations, residents should anticipate better visibility of fire, emergency medical services, and emergency management personnel. The agency emphasized its dedication to preserving emergency response capacity for actual crises and guaranteeing the community's continuous safety.
