Light Smoke Report at Water Facility Quickly Controlled

Fairfax, VT — November 16 —At 8:49 a.m., the Fairfax Fire Department was called to the town's water treatment facility on Hunt Street after a passerby noticed smoke coming from a storage building. Chief 1 arrived to discover light smoke and took command. Engine 1 arrived on the scene shortly after, and the crew attached a hoseline to the structure.
The fire was extinguished by 9:01 a.m., and firefighters commenced overhaul operations. Two engines, two tankers, and 11 firefighters and cops responded. Fairfax Rescue provided EMS coverage at the incident, and no injuries were recorded. Damage is being examined, but the building is not thought to be destroyed. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
