Grand Isle, VT — November 22 — The Grand Isle Volunteer Fire Department is gearing up for its annual letter drive fundraiser, with assistance from the Grand Isle Fire Department Auxiliary. Auxiliary members worked together to prepare and stuff 1,400 envelopes, which will be shipped to seniors this weekend.

This year's fundraiser addresses a rising need. The department now employs seven probationary firemen, increasing the need for turnout gear and secure storage space. All 20 current gear lockers are filled, with some stuff stowed on the floor. The funds raised will go toward the acquisition of a new row of lockers and other protective equipment.
