November 26, 2025 — Hardee County officials announced that the countywide burn ban will remain in effect as drought conditions continue to worsen. The Keetch–Byram Drought Index (KBDI) has risen to 649 across much of the county, indicating significantly dry conditions and an increased wildfire threat.
Following a review of current environmental conditions, the Fire Chief recommended extending the burn ban, and the County Manager approved the recommendation. Officials noted that while there is a slight chance of rain over the weekend, it is not expected to meaningfully reduce fire danger. The county will reassess conditions weekly and provide updates as they become available.
All outdoor burning remains prohibited unless specifically authorized by the Florida Forest Service. Residents are urged to remain cautious and help prevent accidental wildfires.
For non-emergencies, residents may contact the Hardee County Sheriff’s Office at 863-773-4144. For emergencies, dial 911.
